Roundtable Monday - Mizpah Arch 2

Due to some scheduling conflicts with the Northern Trust Room, we have relocated for this meeting. David Tryba has graciously offered us the main conference room at his office for our meeting. Tryba's office is at 16th and Logan and the entrance is off of Logan Street (just north of the entrance to the residence). There are a few guest parking spaces in the alley and plenty off-street 2-hour parking on the surrounding streets.

Looking forward to seeing you at the meeting!

When: Monday, January 11, 5:30-6:30pm

Where: Tryba Architects (1620 Logan Street)

Roundtable Monday - Symposium Findings

Greetings!

On May 13th, the Downtown Denver Partnership, in conjunction with the Union Station Neighborhood Company and Union Station Advocates, hosted a symposium on the governance of the Denver Union Station public spaces. Experts from New York, Santa Fe, Chicago, and Detroit spent a few days in Denver learning about the DUS project and developing a set of recommendations for the project as it goes forward.

This coming Monday, June 8, we will hold our next roundtable on this topic. We will discuss the symposium and the group's findings concerning DUS. Please join us!

Roundtable - What Should We Do With The Historic Building?

Greetings!

Thanks to all who participated in our roundtable on the Design Standards & Guidelines! We submitted our comments yesterday. There is an upcoming Break-Out Group (BOG) meeting on March 12 to discuss the DS&G comments and proposed changes. We will post time and location when it is available.

Now that the DS&G comments are out, we will resume our previous roundtable schedule. This coming Monday, we will discuss the historic station building. This is a follow-up discussion from the last station building roundtable a few months ago and we'll focus in more specifically on programming, uses, and design.

Roundtable Monday - DS&G

Greetings,

The deadline for comments on the Design Standards & Guidelines for the Denver Union Station development is fast approaching (March 5). For this reason, we will suspend our previously scheduled topic and focus entirely on the DS&G at the next USA roundtable, which be held this coming Monday (2/23) from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at the Kentwood City Properties conference room (17th and Wynkoop, enter off of 17th). Download a copy of the DS&G using the following link.

DUS Design Standards & Guidelines http://www.denverunionstation.org/pdfs/design_standards_guidelines_090211.pdf

The intent of this roundtable will be to identify any inadequacies or changes we feel should be addressed in the DS&G. The USA board will then formulate a written response (based on your comments at the roundtable) for consideration by the project team and the City and County of Denver.

At the last roundtable, we charted the major players (companies, organizations, districts, etc) in the DUS project and their relationships to each other. Thanks to each of you who participated! After this diagram is approved, we'll make it available to our members.

Hope to see you on Monday!

2009

Happy New Year to all of you Union Station Advocates members and you interested citizens of our great city of Denver!

The Denver Union Station project is planned to break ground this year! This makes all of our efforts in sheltering and encouraging this project that much more important. My personal kudos and support goes out to everyone involved in the project. It is exciting to see such an important part of Denver's history both preserved and revitalized. We are now within three years from seeing this part of our history teeming with travelers and commuters once again.

As many of you know, the Advocates board is in the process of creating an official 'resolution' regarding the open space design to-date. We are planning to have this document completed and distributed within the next few weeks. When it is finished, it will be posted here and will be sent to our members.

In other news, the roundtables continue to attract numbers of our members who want to provide input on the project. The last roundtable (which was held three weeks ago) was a very interesting and open discussion of the historic train building itself. We are scheduling another roundtable on the historic building, hoping to add more specifically to the discussion from December. Our new roundtable schedule for the first quarter of 2009 will be completed soon. It will also be posted here. In the meantime, add this information to your calendar. We will be meeting every 2nd and 4th Monday from 5:30-6:30pm. Location right now is TBA. Look for a posting later this week on final location.

Roundtable Monday

Greetings!

We will hold our next regular Roundtable on Monday, November 17. The Union Station Advocates board is in the process of creating a design resolution document which will convey our official stance on the current design to the project team and to the City of Denver. Our comments are generated from your comments which you give to us during these Roundtables. All Union Station Advocates members are invited to attend and engage in the discussion at the Roundtable Monday.

Because we would like to keep a tally of people planning to attend the roundtable please RSVP by emailing info@unionstationadvocates.org .
