US Transportation Secretary Announces RTD Funding Award

U.S. Transportation Secretary in Denver today to make major transit funding announcement



SECRETARY RAY LAHOOD TO ALSO PARTICIPATE IN GOLD LINE GROUNDBREAKING



Denver, Aug. 31, 2011 — U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and Federal Transit
Administration Administrator Peter Rogoff will be in Denver today to announce a major transit
funding award for the Regional Transportation District’s East Rail Line to Denver International
Airport and the Gold Line to Arvada and Wheat Ridge. The two lines are part of RTD’s FasTracks transit expansion program.



The award will be announced at a special signing ceremony Wednesday, Aug. 31 at 3 p.m. in
Olde Town Arvada. The event also will celebrate the Gold Line groundbreaking at the site of the
future Olde Town Station.



Prior to the ceremony, the City of Arvada and Historic Olde Town Arvada district will hold a
ribbon‐cutting and ice cream social at 2:30 p.m. to open a model of RTD’s future commuter
train, on display at the Olde Town Square at Olde Wadsworth and W. 57th Ave.
